Restored Hope Counseling Services, PLLC Welcomes You

I am Rachel Como, LMHC. I provide individual therapy for adults dealing with distress whether it be grief, trauma, depression or anxiety. I view therapy as a partnership where you are the expert and I help you discover your true self. I use multiple forms of therapy, with a focus on decreasing negative core beliefs and increasing the adaptive, helpful beliefs.
I feel that therapy can have humor along with the seriousness. I want therapy to be a positive experience even though it can be hard work.

What will it be like?

Therapy can be scary. How can a person open up to a stranger? Do I have to cry? I like to take it at your pace and try to integrate therapy interventions in as you get to know me. Some people like more structure which I can do. I will challenge you in an honest, yet gentle way.

I like to use EMDR which uses eye movements to process a variety of concerns. It is a specialized training often used for military, law enforcement, and first responders. It also is helpful with anxiety, depression, and other forms of trauma. It is amazing to watch new, more helpful connections happen for a client. It is also such a honor to take something that is so electrically charged and take that charge away. There are different variations of EMDR, but each come from Francis Shapiro’s work. Learn more about EMDR with link below.

About Me

I have been in mental health field for since getting my BA at the University of Washington. I quickly realized I needed more education so I received my MA in Clinical Psychology at Argosy University on the waterfront of Seattle.
I have worked with a variety of populations including teens in foster homes, community mental health, and service members and their families.
As for what I like to help treat, I have focused my training on trauma, anxiety, and depression. EMDR is helpful in each of those areas, but I have also used a variety of other techniques. I am working towards developing skills to use virtual reality to help treat phobias and trauma (hope to have ability post COVID).
As for me, I am a mom, wife to a retired Army guy, and probably would be called a nerd. I enjoy reading, crafting, binge watching shows, and being on the water. I have walked roughly 240 miles to support breast cancer research and treatment. I value new experiences and challenging myself.
